To the mothers in our world
From the mum on the street
To the one in the executive office
We might have found you strict
But your love has never fallen short
Though we've fallen short
And how silly we may act
Our appreciation today is a faithful act
That is the fact!

To the one that gave us shelter
Even in the womb
Feeding us, and providing us warmth
You made sure we were ok
A tender touch on your pregnant stomach
And a smile on your face
Was a deep affection to us
You kept us forever in your heart
Why we didn't stay away

To the mother
Who was there when mummy was busy
You were around when we took our first steps
You may have mothered us not easily
But we know the world is far from perfect
There's conflict and there's strife
But you still made a difference
With your special love, you showed us the way
Behind you, we laid in a piece of cloth
By your sides, you took us through town

To the mother at the school
To the mother in the weekday school
You've been a resourceful tool
Your lessons made us not fools
The rules you taught us made us cool
But for your lessons, how could we have survived
In a world so cold and cruel
kindly, loving thoughts of you
And with the faith you still impart
The rose I give to you today
Is the love that's in my heart

To the mothers not mentioned
And to everyone playing a role as a mother
Not even the most expensive gifts can trade your love
Sorry for the years we've been away
And the tears we may have caused
Running down your cheeks
This message may not be enough to wipe your tears
But one thing we can promise
You have been our hope
So toss away your fears
